I exactly failed during that situation due to "commitment" of team-members and not because of the idea. And that's why I had to choose - no team, no problem, do it by yourself attitude for my next project.

I totally agree with your point. I had once taken a "Team First" approach to work on startup. And I exactly failed during that situation due to "commitment" of team-members and not because of the idea. And that's why I had to choose - no team, no problem, do it by yourself attitude for my next project.

But while going through this situation, I think if you have an option, you should try for "Team First" approach. If it doesn't work out, then you should go by other route.

The only problem with the "Team First" idea is just that it doesn't happen that way, at least in my experience.

The very early stage of working on a startup consists largely of being able to share a vision with a few other committed individuals. (Notice i don't say talented, but committed.)

This is actually precisely the point I am at, and from your post, it sounds like our experiences have been somewhat similar.
